The Alma show at Las Caletas

After the day guests leave, Las Caletas becomes a torch-lit stage. ALMA, Rhythms of the Night, is a sunset cruise, a candlelit dinner and a show of dance, music and fire in a jungle amphitheatre.

Rhythms of the Night has been Vallarta Adventures' evening programme at Las Caletas for years. ALMA is its current version, sold as "ALMA, Rhythms of the Night": the same sunset cruise and candlelit dinner on the cove, with a show of contemporary dance, live music, acrobats and fire jugglers at the pyramid amphitheatre.

It is the most reviewed way to see Las Caletas, and the one couples tend to rate highest. Here is how the evening runs and what to know before you book.

The quick answer

The Alma show is from $119 per person on Viator, about 5 hours from the Puerto Magico terminal, including a sunset cruise, a candlelit buffet dinner, an open bar and standard seating at the show. The same MX$40 port fee and $20 access fee are paid at check-in. The minimum age is 6. Paths are steep and torch-lit, and heavy rain or lightning can stop the show.

What is the Alma show?

An evening show of dance, music, acrobatics and fire that tells stories of ancient civilizations, staged in an outdoor amphitheatre built around a stone pyramid at Las Caletas.

The ticket bundles three things: the sunset cruise across Banderas Bay, a candlelit buffet dinner with a string trio and a singer, and the show itself. It rates 4.5 from 2,074 reviews, and guests most often describe the performers as the highlight of their trip.

Is Alma the same as Rhythms of the Night?

Yes, in the sense that matters: Alma is Vallarta Adventures' current version of Rhythms of the Night, on the same cove, with the same cruise and dinner format.

The Viator itinerary still lists the stop as "Rhythms of the Night by Vallarta Adventures", and the operator's notes call it "a romantic evening trip". If you saw the older show years ago, expect a new production in the same setting.

How does the evening run?

Check in at the Puerto Magico terminal at least 30 minutes before departure, cruise south at sunset, walk up the torch-lit paths to dinner, then follow the drums to the amphitheatre.

The Viator itinerary allows about 3 hours at Las Caletas. Depending on the season and the schedule you choose, dinner may be served before or after the show. On the way back, the crew puts on its own show on the boat. One guest timed the whole evening at almost 6 hours from check-in to the return to the marina.

What is dinner like?

A candlelit international buffet at beachside tables, with an unlimited open bar and live music from a string trio and a singer.

Guests describe a solid buffet with salads, sides, several mains and desserts. Reviews range from "delicious" to average, so think of the dinner as part of the setting rather than the reason to go. One guest wished for more non-alcoholic choices.

Is the premium option worth it?

Guests who paid for it say yes: the premium (premier) option adds a menu by a Michelin-rated chef and seats in the front rows of the show.

One guest in July 2026 wrote that premium meant being first to choose seats on the boat, sitting in the first 3 rows of the show and a much better dinner. The standard ticket includes general-access seating, which is further back. Prices for premium show at checkout.

What happens if it rains?

The show goes on in light rain, but heavy rain or lightning can stop it: in September 2026, one guest's show was cancelled after dinner because of the weather.

That guest was offered a rebooking or a refund. Another guest in July 2026 had rain all evening and the show still went ahead. If you visit from June to October, the rainy season, keep a spare evening in your plans and remember the ticket cancels free up to 24 hours before.

Who should think twice?

Anyone with limited mobility, families with children under 6, and cruise passengers.

The operator says the cove has sandy, uphill and irregular paths; it is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, and one guest called the trails, steps and handrails to dinner steep. The minimum age is 6, with no exceptions; children 6 to 11 pay a reduced rate. Cruise passengers are asked not to book this listing. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a light jacket, and in August expect heat and humidity even at night.

Day tour or Alma show: which should you book?

Families with active children usually get more from the day; couples and anyone who wants one big night out often rate the Alma show higher.

The day is about the water, the kids' parks and hammocks; the night is about atmosphere and the performance. Some visitors do both on different days. Read is Las Caletas worth it for the day tour's pros and cons.

Rather see the cove by daylight? The day tour adds kayaks, snorkelling and the kids' parks.
